It is generally agreed that there are two main reasons boats come ashore during storms. The first is chafe of the mooring pendant(s) and secondly, failure of the mooring system due to storm surge lifting the anchor off the bottom.
Island Mooring Supplies is offering a 1” diameter 6’ long surge suppressor mooring pendant that will greatly mitigate the adverse effects of storm surge. It is a shock absorbing pendant, utilising industrial strength rubber filiments wrapped in a double 16/8 braid polyester rope and has a tensile strength of 13,200 pounds.
