MOORING PENDANT BRIDLES

While there are many configurations of mooring pendants, a popular style is a single lead with a double bridle. The lead from the mooring buoy has a thimble attached to the buoy (many times with a swivel) and a soft eye on the other end.

The bridle is usually two separate pieces with a soft eye on the ends. Chafe gear is whipped in place on the end attached to the vessel. The two bridles are cow hitched to the lead line soft eye. This is a proven method of attaching a vessel to a mooring buoy.
